A water pump that operates directly from the DC power generated by the solar panel allows students to investigate the use of solar energy for doing a measurable amount of work. Pumping a measured volume of water from one level to another in a measured time, allows students to calculate the energy required. Relating this to the incoming solar energy, allows students to investigate practical applications of solar power. Requires the RE540 Hilton Photovoltaic Trainer for operation.
